Spring finally arrived yesterday and we’re all hoping that means warmer days filled with sunshine are here to stay. After a winter cooped up inside, this is the time of year that encouraging outside play is an essential must-do for your kids. And setting the tone on this first Monday of the season will help build better play habits that carry through summer and beyond. Playing outside encourages creativity, drives social development and promotes physically active fun for growing boys and girls. Whether it’s tag with the neighborhood kids, organized sports, imagining a land of outdoor make-believe, or exploring nature with the family—the great outdoors opens up their worlds in ways not possible sitting in front of a TV, iPad or video game console. Wasn’t it so much easier before all those distractions? So be prepared as they might grumble at first, but make it your must-do to guide them, help them, convince them, even push a little if you have to…because going outside really is that important.
